Dr Helena Moura
Dr. Helena Moura is an Assistant Professor at the Medical School of the University of Brasilia (UNB) , PhD in Psychiatry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) / Center for Research in Alcohol and Drugs (CPAD), Residency training in psychiatry at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Fellow at the Summer Institute on Alcohol, Drugs and Addiction, Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), Netherlands, Specialist in Addiction by the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), Specialist in Psychogeriatrics by the University of São Paulo (USP), Title of Psychiatrist by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry (ABP), Title of Psychogeriatrics by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry (ABP), Title of Psychotherapist by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry (ABP) and a Medical Doctor graduated from the University of Pará State (UEPA)
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental disorders are characterized by significant changes in a person's cognition (way of thinking), emotional regulation or behavior. They are a sources of suffering and major impairment in various areas of functioning, such as family and friend relationships and work and/or study performance.
The role of the psychiatric evaluation is to help the person identify and describe their suffering, make a diagnosis, and design a therapeutic plan that best meets their needs. Considering that mental disorders affect several aspects of life, treatment should aim not only at improving symptoms, but also quality of life.

It is important to highlight that many individuals experiencing these disorders may also have other psychiatric conditions. Therefore, we approach treatment in an integrated manner, focusing on both the issue of substance use and concomitant mental health conditions.
Our treatment also covers behaviors that can lead to behavioral addictions. We are always expanding our knowledge and approaches to include the latest research and best practices in mental health.
